In March this year, the Skype team announced the launch of Skype for Business (Lync was transformed into Skype), which assured the users of an experience that was similar to using Skype.
Zig Serafin, Vice President, Skype for Business team recently announced the business services that the new Skype can offer. Office 365 subscribers can register and preview the business features of Skype and experience a whole new level in enterprise-grade communications. People who register for the preview program will be given an early access to the features that are being introduced for Skype for Business. It will give a complete preview so that people can get familiar, inform and train other people in their organizations. The team will also incorporate feedback from the people who register for the preview.
The features that have been introduced for Skype for Business include Skype Meeting Broadcast, PSTN Conferencing and Cloud PBX and PSTN Calling. The Skype Meeting Broadcast will enable organizations to host an Internet meeting for up to 10,000 people. It will also allow integration with Bing Pulse and Yammer so that a dialogue can be initiated during the meeting. PSTN Conferencing, which is only available for US, will allow users to join the meeting on Skype for Business through their mobile phones or landlines. Cloud PBX and PSTN Calling, which is again only available in US, will allow users to receive and make calls (inbound and outbound calling) with Skype for Business.
The FAQs and a demonstration of the Skype Meeting Broadcast experience are available in the blog.
